Soul, Save Us.

I feel like god speaks to us through our souls. He gave us free will so he could directs us to the path he wants us to travel.

The problem with religion is most teach that we are all on the same path, and if you do not follow the rest then you are damned to some variation of hell. But it just doesn't make any sense. If God made everyone different, then no two people would share the same opinion, unless at some point, they were influenced by another party. So why would it make sense that there are only two paths in life: good or bad?

I can understand why religion has been used as a tool to manipulate. After all, the things we believe hold power over our choices. If I told you the worst possible thing you can even imagine would happen if you didn't give me all your money, you'd probably comply. And why wouldn't you? Our imaginations are capable of traveling worlds; the worst thing you can imagine could be far worse than anything I could ever do. Yet, you would allow me to use it to gain power over you. Because obeying the one who has power is the ultimate goal, isn't it?

So in this scenario, you would think that I am 'bad person' for taking your money; You were 'good person' for complying. But its all a matter of how we perceive ourselves. Maybe you would see me as a 'bad person' but maybe I thought the opposite because I planned to use that money to feed my starving children. Now if you knew that, wouldn't it change your opinion of the scenario? Maybe you'd even give me the money without my needing to threaten you. But at that moment, I believed the action I took was the "good" path.

Now lets throw religion into the mix. Many religions would say that both of us, regardless of reason, would go to hell. I would go to hell for thievery and you would go to hell for believing in a false God. But seeing as how we both thought we were doing 'good', we'd be terrified and willing to do what ever it takes to get back in good graces with God. Now we've took the power over both of us and transfer it to the church. And this continues in an endless cycle; each thinking they were doing right in the eyes of God; Someone else damning them to hell. Power will keep getting transferred to someone else who believes their opinion is the 'good' one. Decades later, All we are left with is a confusing perception of what we are meant to do with our lives.

Had we just listen to our souls instead of the opinions of others, we wouldn't need to question our purpose.
